common questionsHow long is the initial consultation? Initial consultations may last as long as an hour (see about your consultation). Follow up visits and other office calls will involve less time. Does insurance cover any procedures? It depends on the procedure and your insurance company. Please bring all your insurance information with you at the time of your initial visit, and we will we will do our best to help you determine if your procedure is covered. We will also obtain authorization from your insurance company and submit all related insurance paperwork for you. Is financing available? We do not have a specific financing program, but we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. Many financial institutions, especially credit unions, will lend money for cosmetic surgery at interest rates that are much lower than any financing program I have looked at. Does plastic surgery leave scars? All operations heal by forming scars. Plastic surgeons place the incisions so that they are as inconspicuous as possible and use surgical techniques that help reduce the scarring. However, the final appearance of the scars depends a lot on your skin's genetic makeup and innate healing ability. As a general rule, scarring from cosmetic surgery is well hidden and not noticeable to most people. Tell me about the recovery process. The recovery process varies with each procedure. Please see individual procedure descriptions for more details on the procedures that interest you. Generally, you have dressings and are limited in activity for 24 days after your surgery. You can start to slowly resume normal activity during the next 710 days and you are usually back doing almost everything within 34 weeks. Is there much pain after cosmetic surgery? Surprisingly, my patients usually tell me that they have had minimal discomfort after their surgery. During the operation you are sedated, comfortable and don't remember anything about the procedure. I will give you a prescription for pain medicine in case you need some afterwards. How long until I see the results from my surgery? Bandages will usually be on for 25 days. Bruising is usually gone within 10 days, occasionally a little longer. Most of the swelling from the operation is gone within two weeks but it really takes 35 months before you can look in the mirror and say, "This is what the surgery did for me." What happens if I need to cancel an appointment? We realize that cancellations are unavoidable. We would appreciate your calling the office as soon as you know that you must cancel an appointment. We will be happy to reschedule your appointment. Who do I call with an emergency question? Emergency and after-hours calls will go through our answering service. Please call 480-947-2455, our regular office number, after office hours. Listen to the instructions for leaving an emergency call. Dr. Hait will return your call as soon as possible after receiving the message. What if I live out-of-town and would like an appointment while I'm in Phoenix? Our office will be happy to accommodate out-of-town patients. We can schedule a consultation and other appointments to coincide with your schedule. Please inquire if you need further information. |
